On Sunday, January 8, 2023, Sylvia Barbara Thompson (née Ryan) passed away peacefully after a tough fight with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her most beloved husband, John Stanley Thompson, and loving children Mark Douglas Thompson (Persefoni Tzortzidis), Andrew John Thompson (Lorna Downs) and her three wonderful grandchildren, Hayley Olivia Thompson, Jacob Christos Thompson and Cameron Peter John Thompson. She is also survived by her brother Ken Ryan and his wife Darlene Ryan. Sylvia was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Ryan and her father, Edward Ryan, and her four siblings, Gerald, Robert, Daniel and Anne. Sylvia had a wonderful family life and travelled extensively. She had a very successful career at Scotiabank for thirty-three years. Sylvia will be extremely missed by her immediate family and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and her many nieces and nephews. There will be no service, however, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If you wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Spinal Research Organization, Covenant House or the Salvation Army.
