Obituary for Shirley McDonald

Shirley passed away peacefully on Thursday February 8th, 2024 at Tabor Manor Long Term Care in St. Catharines. Predeceased by her husband Robert “Bob” in 2007, Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her gentle, kind-hearted demeanor will be missed by sons Greg (Sandie) and Paul (Nancy), grandchildren Ashley (Andrew), Justin (Carly), Kevin (Carlie) and Jordan, and great-grandsons Miles and Ty. Also mourning Shirley’s passing are her sister Bonnie and many nieces and nephews. Born in Belleville in 1929, Shirley possessed an independent and resilient spirit. Mom and Dad were married in London in 1952 and built their first house in St. Thomas. They moved the family to Maple in 1959 where Mom resided for over 62 years. Mom had a special place in her heart for wildlife and gave generously to the Ontario SPCA, the Toronto Humane Society and the Canadian Wildlife Federation. She spent many hours watching and feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard. Mom, our love for you is endless. You have touched the hearts of the many people fortunate to have known you.
In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.
