Obituary for Rosa Santangelo

Rosa (nee Colagiovanni) Santangelo, was born in Vinchiaturo, Campobasso Italy, on May 1st, 1936, to Francesco and Michelina Colagiovanni (nee Di Renzo). She died peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill, Ontario with her family by her side, at the age of 86. She is survived by her loving family, husband Giovanni Santangelo, daughter Maria Carmen Iammatteo, son-in-law Enzo Iammatteo and grandsons Alexander Nicholas Iammatteo and now reunited with her grandson Jean-Marc Iammatteo. Rosa’s siblings were, sister of Carmela Santangelo, and Giuseppe Colagiovanni.
Rosa immigrated to Buenos Aires Argentina with her family, at the age of 14, and lived there for 12 years. She married Giovanni in 1955 and they had a daughter, Maria Carmen in 1957. Her family then moved to Staten Island, New York in 1966, and then to Richmond Hill, Ontario in 1991. She worked as seamstress most of her life, but her passion was cooking and feeding her delicious cuisine to her family and friends. She would host multitudes with a smile and pride. Everyone loved her scrumptious home-made pasta, chicken scaloppini, egg plant parm; everything was delicious.
Rosa was one of a kind; the epitome of kindness and giving. She was loved by all, and in the numerous condolences received, her nephews and cousins described her as a second mother. Others described her as special person.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
