Obituary for Paula Ann Barbetta

Paula Ann Barbetta (MacNeil)
aka-”Paula Terrific”
January 25, 1937 -October 22, 2022

After a courageous battle against cancer Paula passed away at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill. Paula was a young hearted, 85 year old. She was surrounded by the love of her husband Sam Barbetta , her daughter Linda Barbetta and her niece Judy Stock.
Paula was married to Sam for 59 years, an unconditional love that was fueled by the ability to make each other laugh. Beloved mother to Linda Barbetta (Geordie Walker) and was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer Mary Barbetta. She was the world's greatest grandmother to Jennifer and Brenden Walker, who brought her pure joy and who she kept laughing until the end. Paula is survived by her sister Moira Peacock and brother Robert MacNeil (Mary) and her many Nieces and Nephews. She was an irreverent and fun mom, sister, grandmother and aunt.

Paula grew up spending her summers on the shores of Lake Simcoe in Orillia at the Knights of Columbus Boys Camp, a camp founded by her father Hector MacNeil. This was her happy place for her entire life and she spent countless hours walking the grounds and reminiscing with family and friends. Paula had simple pleasures, her family, and a walk on the camp road, the company of good friends at the cottage, all types of music, (the louder the better), the smell of a Lilac tree, watching the birds on the back deck with Sam, and getting a good laugh when she “stirred the pot”. Paula was grateful and felt blessed with life's little gifts.

Sam and Linda would like to say a special thank you to Judy Stock who was with us every step of this journey. Her love for mom, her guidance, wisdom and care were a gift to us that we are forever grateful for.

Paula's wishes were that no service be held. A cremation was held and her ashes will be spread where and with whom she loved. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, likely the spring (her favourite season).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Hill House Hospice at www.hillhousehospice.com
