Margarete Avenhaus, 88, of Toronto, ON passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023 at Mackenzie Health. Beloved wife of the late Martin Avenhaus, loving mother to Anita (Rico) Tomassi, and dear Oma to Nicole and Derek Tomassi.
Thank you to our family and friends for the love and support they have shown us as we grieve over the loss of Margarete. She was a gentle and caring person; she loved to sing and spend time at the family cottage on Georgian Bay tending to her flowers. She married Martin in 1953 after bravely immigrating to Canada from Germany at the tender age of 19. She exemplified this bravery in the face of illness until her passing.
