It is with much sadness that the family announce the passing of Lena Jane White (RN) on December 11, 2020 at the age of 90 at Mackenzie Health following complications of Covid-19. Beloved and cherished sister of Davey (MaryAnne) White of Uxbridge. Lena will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, MaryLou (Ben) Dainard, Christine Smith and Elizabeth (Bill) Lee. Lena will be missed by her great nieces and nephews. Born in Altona, Ontario and predeceased by her parents MaryEllen and Dudley White, Lena grew up on the family farm. She trained at Women’s College Hospital School of Nursing where she met many lifelong friends. Lena graduated in 1951 and was a dedicated, longtime nurse and administrator at York Central Hospital in Richmond Hill for 36 years.
A special thank you to the caring doctors, nurses and the entire health care team at Mackenzie Health. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service will take place followed by internment at Hartman Cemetery, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
