Obituary for Joseph McDonald

It is with bittersweet sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph McDonald on Friday, December 9, 2022.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary of 35 years. He is the beloved father of Jacqueline (late John), Joseph (Patty), Linda and Deidre (Dave) as well as 6 grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of Hamilton.

Joseph immigrated to Canada in 1957 leaving his parents John and Brigid (nee Gibney) and 5 siblings.

Joe always had a strong work ethic, in Belfast he worked as an accountant, in the theatre and as a member of the military police. Later in Toronto he joined the Scarborough Police Force before working with the Dufferin Peel Catholic School Bord as a teacher and vice principal.

Throughout his life Joe had many interests: music, fishing, cottage, life and travel. He was well known for quick wit and good humour. He was a man of integrity and was always there to give a helping hand.

We will be forever grateful for the care and support Joe received at Southlake Village.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 10295 Yonge Street Richmond Hill on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11 a.m.
