Obituary for Helen Peace

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Frances Peace on March 25, 2023 at the age of 85.

She was Mom to the late Jo-Anne, Jackie (Paul) of Tiny, ON, Paul (Terri) of Windsor Junction, NS and Janice (Dave) of Mississauga, ON. Proud Grandma to Josh (Amy), Jessie-Anne (Max), Kyle (Kayla), Jaime (Alex), Michaela (Brandon) and Tyler. Great Grandma to Sasha, Miles, Levi, Celeste, Spencer and baby girl Brancatella (due in May). Sister of Eugene, Fern, Lois, and Joan. Special cousin to Joe (Sylvia). Aunt and Great-Aunt to many wonderful nieces and nephews. A friend to many and a lifelong friend to a very special group.

A courageous, loving, witty individual, with a great sense of humor, Helen was always ready with the joke of the day. Family was her number one priority and that included friends and work colleagues that were her chosen family.

During her career, Helen was a bookkeeper extraordinaire in a number of organizations. More importantly, she was a passionate ballroom dancer, who also tried her hand at pole dancing, biking, yoga, baseball, piano lessons, politics, cake decorating, painting, and volunteering.

As a volunteer, Helen spent countless hours on the Powassan City Council, Winter Carnival and Fiddling contest committees as well as raising money for hockey tournaments and the like. In later years, she was the treasurer for the Richmond Hill Seniors Club and a driver for her ladies group luncheons and dinners.

She demonstrated generosity, tenacity and a “tell-it-like-it-is” (in her humble opinion) approach in all her dealings with those lucky enough to know her.

And then the Alzheimers took hold…

To the end Helen was fighting the indignity of this horrible disease. Unfortunately, a battle that she could not win.

Please join us in honouring Helen’s life on Friday March 31, 2023. Visitation will be from 1pm-2pm, followed by a service and luncheon at Marshalls Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4C 5N1.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Georgian Manor, the long term care home that took such wonderful care of mom in her later years or to the Alzheimer's Society.
