Giancarlo was born January 8, 1941 in Fano, Italy to Gino and Rosa Alessandrini. He immigrated to Canada in 1961. Carlo married his sweetheart Luisa and started a family. He was the proud father of three sons: the late Daniele; Stefano (Deborah) and Marco (Theresa). He was the even more proud grandfather to Alicia and Amy. He was the youngest of five siblings: Elvetzia; the late Mercede; the late Arduino and the late Osvaldo. Carlo moved to Richmond Hill when very few Italian immigrants resided there. He started numerous businesses but none more memorable than Carlo’s Furniture which sold furniture and appliances, rented videos, was available to lay carpet, print your business cards and of course get your hair cut. When he retired he kept extremely busy with gardening and was recognized several times by the Richmond Hill Blooms for his beautiful yard. He enjoyed his ritual breakfast of sliced tomatoes, olive oil… and don’t forget the bread. As well, for about nineteen years he was the President of the Oakridges Italian Senior’s Club or as the family referred to him as “El Presidente”. He loved planning events, parties and outings for the club members. But more than anything else he loved spending time whether at home or the cottage with his family!



Giancarlo è nato l'8 gennaio 1941 a Fano, in Italia, da Gino e Rosa Alessandrini. Emigrò in Canada nel 1961. Carlo sposò la sua amata Luisa e mise su famiglia. Era l'orgoglioso padre di tre figli: il defunto Daniele; Stefano (Deborah) e Marco (Theresa). Era il nonno ancora più orgoglioso di Alicia e Amy. Era il più giovane di cinque fratelli: Elvetzia; la defunta Mercede; il defunto Arduino e il defunto Osvaldo. Carlo si trasferì a Richmond Hill quando vi risiedevano pochissimi immigrati italiani. Ha avviato numerose attività ma nessuna più memorabile di Carlo's Furniture che vendeva mobili ed elettrodomestici, noleggiava video, era disponibile per posare tappeti, stampare biglietti da visita e, naturalmente - tagliarsi i capelli. Quando è andato in pensione si è tenuto estremamente impegnato con il giardinaggio ed è stato riconosciuto più volte dai Richmond Hill Blooms per il suo bellissimo giardino. Si è goduto la sua colazione rituale a base di pomodori a fette, olio d'oliva... e non dimenticare il pane. Inoltre, per circa diciannove anni è stato presidente dell'Oakridges Italian Senior's Club o come la famiglia lo chiamava "El Presidente". Amava organizzare eventi, feste e gite per i membri del club. Ma più di ogni altra cosa amava passare il tempo a casa o al cottage con la sua famiglia!
