Obituary for Eleanor Sutton
Passed away peacefully at Elginwood LTC on October 23, 2022, at the young age of 100. Beloved wife of the late Alfred. Wonderful mother to Daniel (Nancy) and Donna (Steve). Grandma of Monika (Brian) and Andrew (Stephanie). Great grandma to Taylor, Carson, and Blake. Will be greatly missed by her only surviving sister Joyce.
Eleanor lived a life full of energy and determination. During WWII, she and her sisters sustained the family business (AE Wood & Sons; home decorating), then worked at Loblaws, Simpsons and Maynards Chocolates. When Alfred retired, they opened Sutton’s Place on Kahshe Lake, Muskoka, providing groceries, fast food, candy and weekend dance parties. Eleanor went on to join the board of the Gravenhurst Senior Center and was a director with the Gravenhurst Legion. She was known to be a supporter of all who knew her.
