Obituary for Doreen Whitmarsh

DOREEN WHITMARSH (nee Mabley) passed in her home on March 9th, 2023. After nearly 6 years of carrying on the family legacy, she will be reunited with her husband and best friend, BOB WHITMARSH. Doreen was a passionate, strong, and loving mother of two daughters, Donna (Jeff) and Darlene. Her five grandchildren, Meghan, Adam, Kelly, Rob and Emily, will forever cherish her memories, life lessons, and unconditional love.
She will be greatly missed by her sister, Shirley Van Namen (Peter) and brothers Don (Carolyn) and Doug Mabley (Cora). Sister-in-law Diane Whitmarsh, late brother-in-law Mike, Judy Rollich (John) and Jane St.John (Dave) as well as her many nieces and nephews
Doreen was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario to Cecil and Mary (nee Waud) .

Doreen was a bright, vivacious spirit whose kindness never faltered. Her many passions included gardening, decorating her home, crocheting beautiful blankets, and sitting in the sunshine watching nature around her. Time was always well spent with friends and family with a cup of tea, freshly baked treats, and if you were lucky, a game of cards.

Doreen was always a social butterfly. Whether that be welcoming people into her home, actively participating in the New Beaver’s Shriners Club, , or chit chatting with the other parents at the grandchildren’s sports games. She will forever be remembered for her gentle, but meaningful connections she made with others.

Visitation will be held at MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 10366 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, on Thursday March 16th from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday March 17 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children and the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be much appreciated.
